New Year AKA 2013

It is a new year, and I am not one for resolutions because I will break them. But I did make a list of things I would love to do more of!

1. Draw everyday, even if its a doodle on the side of my papers at work! I get a lil busy with having a full time job, taking care of pups and managing my time for other things in this life, that the thing I love sometimes gets a away. Which I always say the quote: "Make time for your art (it's important)"

2. Travel. My boy and I keep saying we want to go on vacation, but never find the time to! In desperate need to be on an island, eating fruit, and watching the waves. :)

3. Cook. I don't always have the same schedule as my darling boy, but I need to cook for me anyways and than when we have time cook together!

4. Stretch and exercise. I am not about to join a gym, but at least be conscious of how I am feeling and what I need to help it!

That's it so far, all very simple!

Here is a photo to leave you with from the lovely Pinterest!

Free People Photo Shoot

I am so blessed and happy to be part of a Free People in store event! The event will be the last week of January. Opening day on the 24th. More details, stay tuned!

Today was an eventful one! Got to dress in Free People head to toe and be photographed by the beautiful and hilarious Justine from the Scottsdale Fashion Square Free People. My dogs even made an appearance. :)
Kelli, the store manager and Justine are behind it all to get these photos ready for the Free People blog! They photographed me in my element. From my art studio to the fire pit area in the backyard! My home holds so many inspiring ideas for my paintings and drawings. It's hard to go to work sometimes because I would love to be painting and hanging with the pups. :)

Here are some pictures from the day:

Elephant Graveyard

I have been thinking of more ways to make my paintings/ drawings come alive. My simple but detailed animals are a bit boring. Last year I did a scull painting of an owl and it was an interesting piece and out of my element a bit, but I think I am on to something interesting!
I really enjoy Disney movies of course and my boyfriend Matt gave me the idea of starting this idea by doing the scene from The Lion King of the elephant graveyard. I picture it on a long skinny canvas, dark and a lot of negative space around each skull. The skulls would be coming off the canvas to have you wanting to see more. So this will be starting soon I hope.
Here is some of my inspiration: real sketches from the movie

Back to Basics

So I recently just moved to the west coast to Arizona! Home of the "who turned on the oven?" state especially in the summers. Everything went well and fell into place. Well when you know people things happen :) But hey I did learn that in college.
So on our way I will share we did a few tourist things like going to Bearizona where you can drive in I think 3 miles of natural habitat of bears, wolves, bison and a few other animals right by your car door. Pretty cool. Since I am in love with animals and especially wolves and owls I got a pretty close encounter which was amazing.

Well now Matt and I have been here for about three weeks and we are liking it! Just got our apartment. Check out our new and improved collage.

We also went to First Friday where local artists display there art in downtown Phoenix in shops, galleries, restaurants, and outside! Can not wait to participate soon! So look for that in the future!
Have a great day!

A little bit of this & a little bit of that!

I love how little things here and there just perk up your imagination every minute of the day! I have had this T-shirt for years that has a quote on it that I will never forget. For one I am really not big on displaying sayings or anything on shirts anymore, but it inspired me to make something I can print out and possibly put into a frame one day!
Quote: "Art inspires Life inspires Art inspires Me"
What else inspires me is mixing old with the new. I am in love with vintage and antiques but making them work with modern as well. Frames have been my obsession lately! Every time I see one in my view (particularly antique or old looking) I have to check it out! Garage sales, consignment shops, and Goodwill have been my friend to find frames nobody else has.
Cork board: Frame with fabric and cork behind
Another obsession that I don't think I will grow out of for some time are OWLS! I love drawing them and I love anything with them usually. Just ask my close friends and family.
Well here is my latest...

Well I could not be any happier with life right now! Thank you for checking out my creations!
Have a wonderful day!

Excited for my 2nd art show!

June 11th is coming up! I will be one of the artist's in the 7th annual Art & Wine Festival located at Ella Sharp Museum in Jackson, MI!
I can't wait for it! I already set up my tent to see what it looks like and I have been accumulating stuff for my display and finishing up art pieces! Never have been more prepared I feel.

Dreams could come true...

My dream is to move somewhere warm, such as Arizona. I have lived there for a summer but want to go back! I had both of my sisters living there when I was there but one recently moved, but my oldest sister is still out there with her own family! My two darling nephews are so dang cute! I want to be there with them!
Quinn & Levi
My boyfriend, Matt, lived there for a year as well and we have been discussing if it would be ideal to go back out there! Pretty much the only thing here in MI is our parents and some friends, but as much as we love them and would miss them we are young and want to explore! We both don't care for the winter either.
The beauty of art is that I can produce it anywhere and I want to be somewhere inspiring! Somewhere I can be in nature all the time and enjoy it!
So that is one goal I am trying to live out next! Time will tell...
